Collection: Teawares

Everything for preparing Japanese tea properly — matcha bowls, bamboo whisks, kyusu teapots, yunomi cups and the small tools around them. Handmade in Japan, chosen in person by one of only two Japanese Tea Instructors in Australia certified by the NPO Nihoncha Instructor Association.

Japanese Teaware, Made by Hand

Japanese tea has a tool for each part of it, and each one exists for a reason. A chawan is wide enough to whisk in. A chasen breaks up matcha in a way nothing else does. A kyusu pours a short, precise steep. A yunomi holds the heat of a small serving. None of it is decoration.

Our teaware is handmade across several of Japan's ceramic regions — from Tokoname, home of the Japanese teapot, to Mino, Seto, Banko and Hasami — and because it is handmade, no two pieces match exactly. Glazes pool and break differently on every item; the wabi-sabi aesthetic these objects come from treats the irregular piece as the more interesting one.

Every item is chosen in person by Taka Kaneko, one of only two Japanese Tea Instructors in Australia certified by the NPO Nihoncha Instructor Association, through direct relationships with the makers behind it. We ship Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping over $80.
