Hanabira (花びら), meaning petals. A straw-beige pot with a raised white flower.
The Hanabira Kyusu is a Mino ware teapot with the handle at the back, opposite the spout, and a basket strainer inside. The glaze is a soft straw-beige with fine crackle lines, and the body carries a raised white flower outline with long, narrow petals. The knob on the lid is a deeper amber.
Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) comes from the Gifu Prefecture region and is the most widely produced ceramic in Japan, known for the sheer variety of its glazes.
Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Volume: 500 ml
Care: empty the leaves after each pot, rinse with hot water only, no detergent, and dry with the lid off.
Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from pot to pot.
Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese teapots, or read how to choose a kyusu if this is your first pot.
Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
