Collection: Chashaku, Tea Scoops & Spoons

Scoops and spoons for two kinds of tea. A chashaku is the slim bamboo scoop that measures matcha powder into the bowl, hand-carved in Nara Prefecture by a maker with a 500-year tradition. For loose leaf tea, a tea spoon takes the leaves from the caddy to the pot. Our kabazaiku scoops are shaped from wild cherry bark in Kakunodate, Akita Prefecture, using a traditional Japanese craft, and with use the bark deepens in colour and develops a soft, glowing patina. Our small ceramic spoons are Mino ware from Gifu Prefecture, each with a round glazed bowl on a long handle of unglazed clay. Our two cha-saji are a flat bamboo scoop with a black cord loop and a small wooden scoop with a deep, dark brown bowl. Pair a chashaku with a natsume matcha caddy, or a kabazaiku scoop with our kabazaiku tea caddy. Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping over $100.
