Usu-Seiji (薄青磁), meaning pale celadon. A kyusu and two cups in pale blue-green white porcelain, in a presentation box.

The Usu-Seiji Japanese Tea Set pairs a round side-handle kyusu with two small cups on a stepped foot, all in the same pale celadon glaze, which reads as a soft blue-green white. The pot has a built-in ceramic strainer and holds 270 ml. The cups hold 80 ml each. Small cups like these are meant to be refilled, and the pale inside shows the colour of the tea at a glance. The set comes in a presentation box, so it is ready to give.

Set includes:

  • 1 x Usu-Seiji kyusu (teapot), 270 ml, with a built-in ceramic strainer
  • 2 x Usu-Seiji cups, 80 ml each
  • 1 x presentation box

Hasami ware (波佐見焼, Hasami-yaki) hails from the town of Hasami in northern Nagasaki Prefecture, with a ceramic tradition spanning over 400 years. Today, Hasami remains one of Japan's top three regions by shipment value for everyday tableware, valued for its durable, easy-to-use porcelain.

Made in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan.

Kyusu: 270 ml
Cups: 80 ml each, 7 cm across and 4.2 cm tall

Care: empty the leaves after each pot, rinse with hot water only, no detergent, and dry with the lid off.

Please note: glaze and colour vary slightly from piece to piece.

Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea sets.

Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
