Oribe Japanese Tea Set

Oribe (織部), the deep green glaze named after the tea master Furuta Oribe. A spouted matcha bowl and two cups, all in the same green.

The Oribe Japanese Tea Set puts our Oribe Katakuchi Chawan together with a pair of Oribe Hime Yunomi. The katakuchi (片口) is a matcha bowl with a pouring lip, fine vertical ribs around the body and a rim that rises and falls in a soft wave. The two cups have wavy rims and bands of pinched ribs, and on all three pieces the ribs catch a paler green where the glaze runs thin. Whisk matcha in the bowl, then pour it into the cups to share.

• 1 x Oribe Katakuchi Chawan (spouted matcha bowl), 420 ml
• 2 x Oribe Hime Yunomi (teacups), 310 ml each

Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) comes from the Gifu Prefecture region and is the most widely produced ceramic in Japan, known for the sheer variety of its glazes.
