Ao berubetto means blue velvet. A saturated cobalt glaze, glossy rather than matte, scattered with fine pale flecks that catch across the ribbing, the most vivid piece in the range, and the one that reads as an object on the bench rather than a tool.
What a stand actually gives a wet whisk is airflow. Lying flat, a chasen dries on one side and stays damp on the other; standing in a cup, the handle wicks water upward. Raised on a dome, the crown is open underneath and the tines dry evenly from both sides. Keep it somewhere with moving air and out of direct sun. Bamboo wants to dry slowly and completely, not fast.
Mino ware, made in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Sized for our standard 80-tate chasen. More in our matcha whisk guide.
