Artichoke Chawan

Mino ware, or Mino-yaki, is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years. Known for its diversity of glazes and techniques, Mino ware has long been favoured for its versatility and understated beauty.

The Artichoke Chawan takes its name from the faceted, layered texture carved into the body of the bowl, reminiscent of overlapping artichoke leaves. A soft celadon-green glaze gathers at the rim and fades into a pale, speckled cream tone, with the unglazed clay foot left bare in a deep charcoal hue — a striking contrast that grounds the piece. Its gently undulating rim and rounded form echo the matching Artichoke Yunomi, and the two can be found together as part of the Artichoke Tea Set for a coordinated table setting. Each bowl carries subtle variations in glaze pooling and colour, a natural result of the firing process.
