Pink Shunbun Kyusu, Japanese Teapot

Pink Shunbun: shunbun is the spring equinox. Maple leaves in sand on dusty pink.

The Pink Shunbun Kyusu is a teapot in a glossy dusty-pink glaze with maple leaves in a pale sandy cream stencilled around the body. Inside, a curved stainless mesh covers the spout opening and holds back the leaves as you pour. The side handle is held in one hand with the thumb resting on the lid, so pouring to the last drop is a turn of the wrist. At 380 ml it pours three cups, or two generous ones. Its sister pot is the Midori Shunbun Kyusu, the same leaves on lime green.

Volume: 380 ml

Care: empty the leaves after each pot, rinse with hot water only, no detergent, and dry with the lid off.
