Kuzu-Hana, meaning kuzu flower. Blue vines and small red blossoms on white.
The Kuzu-Hana Chawan is a Mino ware matcha bowl in white, hand-painted with trailing kuzu vines in blue and small sprays of red-pink flowers, with a single leaf spray painted inside near the rim. The inside is white, so the colour of your matcha shows honestly against it. At 11.5 cm across and 7.5 cm high it is a standard single-serving bowl with room for a relaxed whisk, and it whisks easily with either of our chasen.
Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.
Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Diameter: 11.5 cm
Height: 7.5 cm
Please note: glaze, colour and size vary a little from bowl to bowl. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.
Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of matcha bowls, or read Know Your Chawan if you are choosing your first bowl.
Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
