Uzumaki, meaning whirlpool. Black spirals on white.
The Uzumaki Yunomi is a wide Hasami ware teacup in a glossy white glaze with bold black spirals brushed around it, one large and several small, and a white rim inside. At 420 ml and nearly 11 cm across it is a big cup that holds its heat, for an evening hōjicha or genmaicha.
Hasami is a pottery town in Nagasaki Prefecture, southern Japan.
Made in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan.
Volume: 420 ml
Diameter: 10.7 cm
Height: 8.1 cm
Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from piece to piece. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.
Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea cups, or a kyusu to pour from.
Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
