Nukumori, meaning warmth. A big, round, pale mug.

The Nukumori Yunomi is a Mino ware mug in a pale grey-cream speckled glaze, round-bodied and thick-walled, with a stout loop handle and the same pale speckle inside. A pale inside shows the colour of the tea honestly, so you can judge a sencha at a glance. At 350 ml it is the evening cup for hōjicha or genmaicha, where a bigger, thicker cup that holds its heat is the point.

Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.

Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.

Volume: 350 ml
Diameter: 9 cm
Height: 8.2 cm

Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from piece to piece. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.

Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea cups, or a kyusu to pour from.

Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
