Koke, meaning moss. The flared cup in deep moss green.
The Koke Yunomi is a Mino ware teacup in a deep, glossy moss-green glaze, flaring out from a stepped foot to a wide rim, with the same green inside. At 170 ml and 8 cm across it is a sencha cup you refill through the morning, and the pair to our Kuro Yunomi, the same shape in charcoal black.
Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.
Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Volume: 170 ml
Diameter: 8 cm
Height: 6.5 cm
Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from piece to piece. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.
Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea cups, or a kyusu to pour from.
Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
