Kiame, meaning yellow candy. Three glazes in three wedges, with its own saucer.
The Kiame Yunomi is a Mino ware cup and saucer glazed in three wedges of colour, mustard yellow, grey-white and dark charcoal, meeting in clean diagonal lines, with a glossy black handle. The 14 cm saucer is divided the same way, so the two line up, and the three glazes continue inside the cup. At 270 ml and nearly 10 cm across it is a wide cup for sencha, or a generous evening hōjicha.
Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.
Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Cup volume: 270 ml
Cup diameter: 9.8 cm

Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from piece to piece. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.
Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea cups, or a kyusu to pour from.
Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
