Kakewake (掛け分け), the potter's word for a piece glazed in separate areas. Brown speckled clay above, white glaze below.
The Kakewake Cha-kōro is a tea incense burner in Tokoname ware. A shallow dish with a tab handle sits on top for the tea leaves, and a small clay cup for a tealight sits in the opening at the front. Place a few dry leaves, such as sencha, hōjicha or genmaicha, in the dish and light the tealight below. As the leaves warm, they give off a roasted-tea scent. A tealight and tea leaves are not included.
The wooden board in the photos is not included.
