Fuyu, meaning winter. Blue icicles down a cream cup.

The Fuyu Yunomi is a Mino ware cup with a handle, in a cream glaze with blue and white streaks running down from a dark rim like icicles, and a small ring pressed into the top of the handle. The inside is cream. A pale inside shows the colour of the tea honestly, so you can judge a sencha at a glance. At 280 ml it is a mug for a long sencha or an evening hōjicha.

Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.

Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.

Volume: 280 ml
Diameter: 8.2 cm
Height: 8 cm

Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from piece to piece. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.

Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea cups, or a kyusu to pour from.

Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
