Fuji Kumo, meaning Fuji cloud. Mount Fuji and clouds in blue on white.
The Fuji Kumo Yunomi is a Mino ware mug in a white glaze, hand-painted in blue with Mount Fuji rising between rounded clouds on one side and a cloud over a blue sea on the other, a brown line at the rim, and a small blue cloud painted inside near the lip. The inside is white. A pale inside shows the colour of the tea honestly, so you can judge a sencha at a glance. At 300 ml it is a mug for a long sencha or an evening hōjicha.
Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.
Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Volume: 300 ml
Diameter: 8.8 cm
Height: 9 cm
Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from piece to piece. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.
Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea cups, or a kyusu to pour from.
Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
