Daikon, meaning radish. A pale, gently dimpled cup.

The Daikon Yunomi is a Mino ware teacup in a speckled cream glaze, its sides gently dimpled and faceted by hand and its rim flaring wide, with a pale cream inside. A pale inside shows the colour of the tea honestly, so you can judge a sencha at a glance. At 220 ml and 9 cm across it is a wide sencha cup, the shape that cools quickly and lets the aroma rise.

Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.

Made in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.

Volume: 220 ml
Diameter: 9 cm
Height: 7 cm

Please note: shape, colour and capacity vary a little from piece to piece. That is the nature of handmade Japanese ceramics.

Ships Australia-wide and worldwide, with free Australian shipping on orders over $100. See the full range of Japanese tea cups, or a kyusu to pour from.

Each piece is made by hand, so the glaze on yours will differ from the photograph. That variation is the character of the piece, not a flaw.
