The Asa Yunomi is a tall Mino ware teacup in a deep navy glaze carved with a fine white geometric pattern of six-pointed stars, with a glossy navy inside. A dark cup hides the colour of the tea and shows off the cup instead. At 190 ml and 6.5 cm across it is a slim cup that holds its heat, for sencha poured again and again.
Mino ware (美濃焼, Mino-yaki) is one of Japan's most celebrated pottery traditions, produced in the Gifu Prefecture region for over 1,300 years and known for the sheer variety of its glazes and techniques.
