The Suisyo Chawan is a handcrafted matcha bowl made in Mino, one of Japan's most celebrated pottery regions. Suisyo (水晶), meaning "crystal," captures the essence of this piece perfectly, a dramatic contrast between a dark grey stone-textured exterior and a luminous turquoise blue interior, reminiscent of still water reflecting an open sky.
Designed for both everyday matcha preparation and the formal tea ceremony, this chawan is as meditative to hold as it is to use. The generous bowl shape allows for easy whisking, while the tactile exterior provides a grounded, natural feel in the hand.
Each piece is fired individually in Mino, Japan, meaning subtle variations in glaze, colour, and form are entirely natural, and what makes every Suisyo Chawan truly unique.
